All people need and desire to have a place where they can belong; this is evidenced by persons joining fraternities, sororities, clubs and other civic organizations. These places provide an outlet for people desiring to express themselves, while finding genuine acceptance and unconditional love because of a shared interest.
The church must be a place where people can truly “come as they are”, with all of their vices into an environment without judgment, open and welcoming, in order for persons to feel like they can eventually belong.
“Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more. . .” Hebrews 10:25, GNT
